Digital formats include P2 and XDCAM readers. All equipment is controlled via HD/SDI base-band patch bays. With HD/SDI I/O your footage isn't wrapped in firewire compression during ingestion. Edit 2 is our Final Cut Pro suite running on an 8-core PowerMac with 8GB of RAM. Final Cut is also tied to the shared Terrablock 24TB storage. Assets can easily be shared with Avid Media Composer and vice versa.

This is also our real time DVD encoding suite. We employ the industry standard Sonic SD-1000 encoder for real-time, cinematic quality encoding. This eliminates rendering bottlenecks when your job has to get out the door in a hurry. Real-time MPEG2 encoding is also higher in quality than software rendering. Return to top

Take One’s versatile 24'x19' shooting soundstage accommodates custom-built sets as well as the magic of virtual sets. As part of our full-service offering, we can supply production crews, custom lighting, makeup artists, still photography, talent, and set design — everything you need to energize your project’s alternate reality. Half of our stage is dedicated to virtual set work. For maximum flexibility the set incorporates fly-away walls.

Real-Time Chroma Key

The stage is patched to the central machine room allowing us to route back the composite image to the set. This allows our lighting directors to dial-in the lighting so the talent looks like they belong in the virtual environment. This virtual set is for the FDIC's public outreach programs.

HVAC Sound Attenuation

Extensive investment has been made to provide virtually silent air conditioning on the stage and control the temperature generated by the lights. This makes for happy soundmen. You wouldn't know it from this image of Michael Boyle, but deep down inside... he's happy.

Mini-Jib

The Libec mini-jib is standard fare with our camera package. The jib is small and nimble enough to work on the stage and it allows the cameraman to change the position and height very quickly from down-low shots to overhead... in seconds.

Lighting and Grip

Lighting is what sets apart the men from the boys. Take One's lead-gaffer Dave Mikutsky makes every shot look like gold.

Make-Up Artists

Keeping our talent comfortable and looking good is the job of our talented make-up artists. Here Maeion Bryant touches up New Ground Publishing's Stephen Hartman. We're HD ready with air-brush make-up application.

Teleprompting

Take One offers clients in-house teleprompting equipment and operators. Either direct to lens or off-axis, multi-monitor for narrative pieces, either on our stage or in the field.

Set Construction

Shooting on-location is not always possible. Take One's boutique sound stage is designed for maximum efficiency and offers a lot of bang for the buck. Take One's in-house set-design and construction service is the answer for clients looking for turn-key service.

Ready to Shoot

Final touches include staging and propping the set. We can provide furniture from a variety of sources or clients can provide their own. Whenever possible we pass cost savings on to clients by re-purposing previous set pieces, equipment, and props.

Boutique Stage Flexibility

This set, built for Wolters Kluwer/Lippincott, Williams, and Wilkins, included a wall cut-out for reverse angle camera placement. Fly-away walls, as seen beyond the crew, can be removed in 5 minutes for almost 360 degree coverage.

Crew

Our crew is always friendly, flexible and eager to make great images. Here, we're on-location with presenter "So You Think You Can Dance" finalist Caitlin Kinney.

Lighting Board

Take One employs DMX lighting boards for location stage lighting. These advanced lighting consoles set-up right on the stage's edge so it's easy to communicate lighting cue changes.

Location Sound

The crew shoots a viral marketing piece for Special Olympics Maryland.

Director of Photography

Take One's Director of Photography, Dan Powell, shoots Krystal Koons for a spot in one of their Virginia stores.

Extensive Lighting

Take One's grip and lighting package is very extensive. Clients are always impressed by the contents of our grip van which includes a Matthews door-way dolly, Libec mini-jib, Mongo taco-cart, Arri light kit, Leko projectors, Kino-Flos, an HMI package, and extensive grip support with gels, silks and flags.

Action!

Take One crews believe in creating a relaxed, fun environment, and never take ourselves too seriously. Our goal is to obtain the best performance from our on-camera talent. We work together to create products that go beyond our clients’ expectations and keep them coming back for more. The production experience is always a good one.
